Join us for the SBHA’s annual SPRING FLING!
Rain or shine. All current & potential members welcome! This free event kicks off at 11:30 a.m., Sat., May 4 at the SBHA clubhouse (34 Sea Breeze Road, Toms River). This year’s theme is the Kentucky Derby, so join us for pre-derby pastries and brunch beverages. Enter our “Best Derby Hat” contest.

Please RSVP by April 20th via an email to silverbayharbor@gmail.com. That email should include your name, address, phone number, and the number of adults/kids in your party.

HOW TO JOIN OR RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP: The SBHA’s 2024 Membership Fee Schedule Renewal Form can be found by clicking on the “FORMS” tab at the top of this web page. New members should fill out both that form and the 2024 First Time Membership Application. All forms should be printed, filled out and mailed with a check to our treasurer, Mike Raymond, at 36 Joyce St., Toms River, NJ 08753. Checks should be mailed by March 1, payable to the Silver Bay Harbor Association.

To join as a regular member with full voting rights, you must live within two blocks of the SBHA property at 34 Sea Breeze Road, on the south side of Silver Bay Road. Anywhere else is outside of our core membership area — but you may still join as an associate member, which effectively gives you the same privileges and access to our facilities. Associate members don’t have to pay the $350 initiation fee, which is a one-time fee that only applies if you’re joining the association as a regular member.

Joining the SBHA as a regular or associate member gives you unlimited access to the fishing dock, boat ramp, playground and swimming beach, which has a full-time lifeguard on duty during the summer. You’re also eligible to rent the beach club building for private parties and rent a boat slip in the marina, both depending on availability.

The annual dues are $250 for a regular membership and $350 for an associate membership, which covers everyone in your family who lives at your address. The annual deadline for paying your dues is March 1, and they’re not pro-rated if you join or renew your membership later in the year.

If you have any questions about joining the association or renewing your membership, send an email to the association president, Bob Mura, at bobmura67@gmail.com or the treasurer, Mike Raymond, at raymondlbi@aol.com.

PRIVATE PARTY RENTALS: The beach club is available for private party rentals throughout the year, for a fee of $350 per day. As usual, individual members are still free to use the facilities (including the beach, playground, parking area and restrooms) when the clubhouse is reserved for a private party. For more information about how to make a reservation, please click on the “CALENDAR” tab at the top of this web page. You can also contact the association’s social director, Sandy Zarycki, via email at sandreo139@gmail.com.

BOAT SLIP & WAVERUNNER SLIP RENTALS: The boat slips and waverunner spots in our marina are fully booked for the 2024 season. Members with questions about their assigned spaces should contact the harbormaster, Dave Fusaro, via email at djfusaro@comcast.net.

The SBHA’s boat and waverunner slips may be rented for the season by regular members and associate members. For more information, go to the “FORMS” tab at the top of this web page and then click on “2024 Regs for the Rental of Boat Slips.” The cost for renting a slip or waverunner spot varies depending on whether you are a regular or associate member. To see the charges, go to the “FORMS” tab at the top of this web page and click on the “2024 Membership Fee Schedule Renewal Form.” Please note that waverunner owners must provide and install their own floating docks (and remove them if you’re not coming back the following year).

All boat and waverunner owners must go through a yearly in-person application process, where you will be asked to pay your annual membership dues and slip fee in full for the entire season (April 1 to Nov. 1). The sign-up sessions for the upcoming boating season are usually held on two dates in February. Watch this space for next year’s sign-up dates. Returning slip users and new applicants must stop by the clubhouse at 34 Sea Breeze Road on one of the February dates each year to submit your paperwork and your check. Our treasurer, Mike Raymond, and the harbormaster, Dave Fusaro, are usually on hand to process them.

Prior to attending one of the sign-up sessions for a boat slip, please visit the association’s website and click on the “Forms” tab. ALL VESSEL OWNERS SHOULD FILL OUT a fresh copy of the Membership Fee Schedule Renewal Form and the Boat Slip Application form. If you’re joining as a new member, you should also print and fill out the First Time Membership Application form. Those forms spell out the fee schedule for dues and slip rentals. You may combine them into one check, payable to the Silver Bay Harbor Association.

Boat and waverunner owners should bring all of those filled-out forms to one of the boat-slip registration sessions, along with a copy of your boat registration and a copy of your boat insurance card (or other documents proving your boat is insured, such as a declaration page). Please note that we require documented proof that all vessels occupying slips are registered and insured in the name (and household address) of an SBHA regular member or associate member. Members are not allowed to sublet the slips they rent to anyone else, even another SBHA member.

Slips are only assigned by the harbormaster. Even if you’ve had a slip for many years, you will only be assigned a slip if your annual dues and slip fee for the upcoming season are paid in full at one of the marina registration sessions in February. Boat owners do not get to pick their slips, and they can’t trade them with each other. Regular members who had a boat slip in either of the last two years get first dibs on the same slip if they pay on time, followed by other existing or new members. Returning associates who had slips last year rank next in priority, and other associates will then be assigned slips on a first-come, first-serve basis if any are still available.
