Greetings, Friends & Neighbors: the Silver Bay Harbor Association promises another season of sun & fun at our beach club and marina. All dues and fees remain the same the same for 2025 as they were in 2024. They can be found under the “Forms” tab of this website (see above).
LIFEGUARDS NEEDED: The SBHA seeks lifeguards to work this summer at our bayfront beach club at 34 Sea Breeze Road, in the Silverton section of Toms River. The pay is $17 per hour. Weekend shifts available starting May 24. Shifts available every day from mid-June through Labor Day, when guards can expect to work up to 25-30 hours per week, if they like. Applicants must be at least 16 years old, with a lifeguard certification from the American Red Cross or the Boy Scouts of America (the latter also requires a separate basic life support CPR certification). We will also accept a U.S. Lifesaving certification that an applicant might have from working at one of the local ocean beaches. If someone wishes to apply but is not yet certified, we will reimburse the cost of taking the certification class (we reimburse 50% at the end of the first season of employment and the rest after the second season). If you’re interested, please send an email to our beach director, Stephanie Fusaro, at stephfusaro1016@gmail.com.
PRIVATE PARTY RENTALS: For information about how to make a reservation for private party rentals at the beach club, go to the association’s website and click on the “Calendar” tab. You should also click on the “Forms” tab and check out the Clubhouse Reservation Agreement. Please note that reservations will not be accepted unless your 2025 membership dues are already paid in full.
BOAT SLIP & WAVERUNNER SLIP RENTALS: The marina is fully booked for the 2025 season. If you’re a member who would like to sign up for a boat or waverunner slip next year, we will hold our usual annual sign-up sessions next February. Watch this space around yearend for more details about that.
ANNUAL MEETING & ELECTION: These will be held at the beach club at 10 a.m. on Sat., May 3, 2025. Only regular members may vote (up to two votes per household if both are in attendance), but associate members are also welcome to attend.
Election Details: Four, 3-year terms on the 7-member Board of Trustees will be up for grabs at the annual membership meeting. Treasurer Dave Schlossman and harbormaster Dave Fusaro have agreed to sit for re-election, but board secretary Marie Trackim and social director Sandy Zarycki plan to step down after many years of dedicated service. Hence, at least two fresh candidates are URGENTLY NEEDED. If you’re a regular member (as in, not an associate member) interested in running for one of the available seats on the board, please send an email to board secretary Marie Trackim at marie.trackim@gmail.com. Please note that successful candidates will not be elected to specific positions on the board (such as president, harbormaster, etc.). Those responsibilities will be assigned by the board after the new slate of trustees is sworn in.
HOW TO JOIN OR RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP: The SBHA’s 2025 Membership Fee Schedule & Renewal Form can be found by clicking on the “FORMS” tab at the top of this web page. New members should fill out both that form and the 2025 First Time Membership Application. All forms should be printed, filled out and mailed with a check to our treasurer, Dave Schlossman, at 74 Taylor Road, Short Hills, NJ 07078. Checks should be mailed by March 1, payable to the Silver Bay Harbor Association.
To join as a regular member with full voting rights, you must live within two blocks of the SBHA property at 34 Sea Breeze Road, on the south side of Silver Bay Road. Anywhere else is outside of our core membership area — but you may still join as an associate member, which effectively gives you the same privileges and access to our facilities. Associate members don’t have to pay the $350 initiation fee, which is a one-time fee that only applies if you’re joining the association as a regular member.
Joining the SBHA as a regular or associate member gives you unlimited access to the fishing dock, boat ramp, playground and swimming beach, which has a full-time lifeguard on duty during the summer. You’re also eligible to rent the beach club building for private parties and rent a boat slip in the marina, both depending on availability.
The annual dues are $250 for a regular membership and $350 for an associate membership, which covers everyone in your family who lives at your address. The annual deadline for paying your dues is March 1, and they’re not pro-rated if you join or renew your membership later in the year.
If you have any questions about joining the association or renewing your membership, send an email to the association president, Bob Mura, at bobmura67@gmail.com or the treasurer, Dave Schlossman, at d.schlossman@icloud.com.
